LET’S BREAK IT DOWN!

  • Your SCHOOL has registered as one of 500 participating schools
  • Your CLASS is given a code
  • Your parents register in 1 of 3 ways; sms, call or online
  • Then, your parents swipe their MySchool or linked Woolies cards. d. The school and class with the top scores can win great prizes. There are weekly prizes for participating classes. (Don’t forget you can check out your class status online)
  • Your parents continue to swipe and three schools can win big cash (and pass it on)
  • You can get chosen as one of the BIG 5, you get to show your skills, play it forward, mms your tricks, and win prizes.
  • You can buy cool skills balls and R5 gets donated to a worthy cause!

SO far it’s been all about YOU – what you get out of this. It’s time to teach you a big word: altruism. Definition oxford dictionary: selflessness - an attitude or way of behaving marked by unselfish concern for the welfare of others. So let’s not get all caught up in our own receiving – remember that if you buy a hot skills ball from Woolies for R39.95, R5 goes towards a really needy charity, the MySchool SA Street Children’s Fund, which supports five charities across South Africa. (Kids just like you with amazing potential, but without the financial support.)

You can support the MySchool SA Street Children’s fund throughout this campaign as well. Rather than selecting a school to support, choose to support this fund. You will be swiping to raise money for them throughout the campaign.

YOU can win
There are weekly class prizes for each school’s top class. The winning classes are not determined by how much you spend (that would be unfair!) but by how often you swipe your card, how many items you buy (big or small) and how many different stores your school’s supporters visit. (So get far-off family to support you too – they will help build your score!). Prizes include class parties, civvie days, Easter eggs and more. But if you want to win big, you can’t just sit on your bum cushions, you need to get active! Apart from all the swiping, you need to interact with us too! So in order to win ABOVE the ordinary, you need to either be something called a Trickstar, and if you’re truly shiny, one of the BIG 5. Don’t worry, we’ll explain this. Both require you to be interactive and to mms your skills to us! We want to see!

WiiTrickstar prizes for learners showing us their moves and MMS’ing us with them, the top three most voted for best tricks get to win prizes.

Ok, so what is this Diski Dance everyone’s talking about? Seriously? You’ve never heard of the DISKI DANCE? Definition: Diski means soccer in township vernacular, and Dance is “shake your booty like its muti”.

Where does this Diski Dance come from? The Diski Dance is so proudly South African it’s scary! It was originally devised as part of an international advert to celebrate our South African-ness and to show the world how ready we are as a nation to embrace the World Cup! It’s got a whole lot of uniquely SA soccer moves, and a whole lot of heart! We got to check out Luis Figo and Lucas Radebe shaking their booty – and this is what it looked like:

Any single one of you can be a Trickstar! And when you send us your clips, you can check them out online! You too can be famous. Believe it! SO if you have savvy feet, can kick a ball, and know some tricks, don’t let your talent go to waste.

If you don’t consider yourself the next soccer star, why not send us your bloopers? Trying is half of succeeding. Either way, get a friend to film you doing your thing on a cellphone and send it to us: clips@playitforward.co.za

There are brilliant prizes up from grabs. Check out the Win Big page for details.

No, we’re not actually talking about rhino's or lions or any other 4 legged animals. You are the only animal we’re interested in. This is the vibe: Your teacher will nominate 5 kids in your school to BE the Big 5. And actually, yes, you do need to stride like a leopard. It’s not about your looks, or your style, or if you’re the perfect A student– we’re looking for the leaders of tomorrow who will dare to share! You need to: be internet savvy, have a can-do attitude, love life, and wanna play it forward, oh and have some fancy footwork. You just need to be kwaai like that.

What’s in it for you? Well, apart from “representing” your school, you can win – duh – have you not been paying attention? This is all about winning and shining in your school community!

If you’re over 13 years old, get onto Facebook and start talking to us there too. The most active online BIG 5 members stand the chance of winning. Check out the Win Big page for details.
